LLMs predict the 2026 World Cup
Four frontier LLMs (Opus 4.7, Sonnet 4.6, GPT-4o, Gemini 2.5 Pro) each scored a 48-team forecast for the 2026 World Cup from a frozen context pack. They put Spain on top with a mean champion probability of 14.9%, agreed on the modal winner in 69 of 72 group-stage matches, and split on Group D and on whether Brazil or England is the third elite.
